Are there hardware consequences if I downgrade my OS on a very powerful computer?

Lets say I have a powerful computer of 8GB RAM, 600GB of space, 2.7 Ghz processor and the rest up to you. If I wanted to downgrade the current OS to Windows XP, will it reduce the efficiency of these components over time since all this stuff surpasses the minimum req's of XP by so much? Please dont give me answers like why would you have such a powerful PC to just have Win XP or something like that. Im talking serious here so Id like to expect the same for the answers.
