What does it mean if he asks if i like him?!??!?

omg this is driving me crazy im not sure what it means?!?!?!?!??!!!!! awile ago my boyfriend and i were talking on the phone and he said, ( hey this is just a random question, but do you like me? ) i said of corse i do, ur so hot, ur everything to me. Then about 3 weeks later when we were talking on the phhone again he said hey, um do u like me? and i was speechless for about 5 seconds and i said. why are you asking this again? and then he said he didnt know so i just gave a simple answer , of corse i do.. in a questionally way because i was really confused why he keeps asking this? i asked if he likes me and he does, and i know he does, and i dont know why he is asking this? does he want me to re asure him? because im very affectionate around him. ??????
