Should i do this please help?

theres this guy that i think is really cute.ive never talked to him but my friend knows him and says hes really nice.but he changed schools last week and i found out he has a facebook.i want to add him but im afraid he mite say "do i know you?" or something like that.but if he does say that i was thinking of saying "you dont know me but you know my friend ______ and i think your really cute and id like to get to know you" so should i do this? im a really shy person so this would be hard for me to do
